Rachael Trost

Rachael believes that the best journalists have an immense passion for humanity, an undeniable curiosity for seeing the world from different perspectives, and the determination to share those visions with others. A summer graduate from The Murrow College, Rachael has worked as both on-air talent for several student productions, produced her own television show, served as the Vice President of Special Projects for Cable 8 Productions, won two NATAS Northwest Emmy Awards for her work as a reporter on Murrow News 8, produced one hour of original content entitled Finding Frankie's Diagnosis, worked as a news writer for Northwest Public Radio, and held several internships including ones at Dateline NBC in New York City and KREM2 News in Spokane, WA. Backpack journalism has truly been something that has shaped her experiences. Traveling to London will be her third backpack adventure. In May 2013, she traveled with 15 other students to Havana, Cuba, and in December 2013 she was awarded a scholarship trip to travel to Chengdu, China to cover panda conservation efforts. Currently, Rachael is in New York City and plans to attend Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism in the fall.
